Hi All,
We struggled with this issue at Philly, too. There is some evidence that during freezing, ice crystals form in the brain, which could be painful. Since we brought in wild-caught King Cobras a few years ago, we had to address it to stock up on feeder snakes and to hopefully decrease parasites. For now, we use the CO2 method, as labs do to kill rodents en masse. Snake doesn't get enough oxygen, passes out, dies. Not saying it's ideal but it's what the powers have decreed! We the freeze the feeder snakes for at least 2 weeks which makes them much safer to feed then live wild caught.
Oh, by the way, Hi Rob!
My Best,
Steve B.
