Northern racers, as juveniles, are fairly easy to get started on rodents but southern black racers are very finicky. I would suggest starting with pinks to avoid the financial burden of feeding a few anoles every week. I've found that gently shaking a pink with a pair of forceps will stimulate a young racer's feeding behavior. Others have had success feeding small insects like grasshoppers and crickets.
