It is easy to tell the sex of U. phants. Males have buldges at the base of their tails and females don't. If the animals are to young to sex, males have the tendency to have a more scalloped and dead looking tail. Not shriveled dead, but like little notches that are taken out of a leaf. This cryptic look in males is found on the tail.



Males and females can be kept together year around. Although if the female is laying to much, seperate her for a rest period. I would do this after she lays 6 clutches, rest her for a month and then introduce them again.
