Thanks for the feedback.

I was at a wildlife management area near Winslow, NJ. I think it's actually called the Winslow WMA. The forest there is not 100% Pine Barrens - there are fields for attracting deer and the forest is probably more oak than pine. I have had poor luck in the deeper Pine Barrens, though I've only gone out a few times.

You mentioned that you are only taking pictures, which is a good thing, because New Jersey is very tight about collection rules.

On the date I found that racer I found 3 worm snakes. Now the funny thing is that I went back twice over the next month (found a large black ratsnake, nesting painted turtle, more toads, green frogs) and on both trips I found a worm snake under one of the same pieces of debris I had found one under on the first trip. Same one? I don't know, but it was strange to the point of spookiness.
