Hi there,
From my experience with "escapee'" chameleons, they usually seek a place that is light, and that is high from the ground. Most likly your chameleon just wanted to be high off the ground, it gives them a sense of security as they are aboreal reptiles. Its basically in their instincts to climb. I wouldnt be too worried about him, as long as he is hydrated now.
I dont think he was seeking UV rays, for glass blocks 100% of the rays that come through the windows...but he COULD have been attracted to the light, especially if it was warm.
What types of lights are you using on your veiled right now?
By the way, he sure is a cutie, your doing a fabulous job on him.
