WC eastern Milk Question

I was considering collecting a couple eastern milks from an area where they are extremely abundant here in Chicago. My concern is that they are already, or will shortly be going off food. What is the best way to deal with WC animals collected in the fall when they are naturally off food? Do I need to brumate them this early - a couple weeks after collecting, and count on them eating in Spring?
