feeding on substrate question

ok right now i have my juvie brb in a 20 long tank with newspaper for bedding and a under tank heater. the water bowl on top of part of where the uth is 2 hides and a jungle vine. and i was wondering what is the best kind of bedding to use to keep up the humidity?? and how should i feed her so that she doesnt get it stuck in her mouth??? oh yeah i have the screen coverd like 90% or so so the humidity stays in and i do mist it every day. thanks in advance
