Eventful evening. Saw four gopher snakes on the road leading up to S2, one dead the rest alive. Thought it would be too cold to see anything moving, and it did get down there. Tally and temps as follows. Temps are of the road and then of the desert sand off the road.
Time Temp (Road/Sand) Snake Location
7:30 80 Gophersnake(baby) S2
8:00 80 Banded Gecko Yaqui pass
8:30 84.5 77.5 n/a B.Springs
9:00 76 67 Neonate ruber 78
9:05 76 66 Medium Glossy 78
9:35 82 n/a bottom of Yaqui
9:35 84 n/a top of Yaqui
9:45 83.5 76 DOR longnose Yaqui
10:10 83 77 Shovelnose snake Airport
10:30 81 n/a top of Yaqui
10:30 79 n/a bottom of Yaqui
10:45 77 68 DOR adult Ruber 78
11:00 72.8 n/a Scissors
11:01 69 DOR glossy S2 in park
11:20 66 n/a Blair Valley
11:35 70 60 n/a S2 out of park
11:40 70 62 DOR neonate glossy S2
11:45 69 62 DOR Adult glossy S2

While it felt really cold, the road temps were pretty reasonable and I was surprised to see the Rubers out. The last time it felt this cold, I saw 10 neonate SD gophers on a two mile stretch of S2 within half an hour. No rosies though. cheers, donald
