I went on a camping/hiking trip this weekend. I was basically there to herp my brains out. My goal was to witness a Copperhead or a Timber Rattlesnake. No suck luck. I hiked 8 miles and didn't see one snake. The area looked like it would be snake heaven, but nope. I asked the lady at the ranger station and she said they are around here, but hadn't had a siting in about 5 years. I know these snakes are endangered, but with miles and mile of perfect terrain I am surpised they wouldnt be more abundant.

So anyone have any Herp success stories in High Point Park NJ?

We did see some smaller critters near the lake though like a northern water snake, a newt, and some various frogs.
