My little RES loves its carrots. It beggs so bad when it know I am cutting one up for it. I generally use store bought baby carrots and cut them into little pieces for the turtle.
Well, I have read that plant matter (like carrots) can be left in the tank for a turtle to graze on. Much to my dismay this morning when I awoke, the carrots had started growing mold. They were, I think, a few days old. Is there a limit as to how long vegetable matter can be left in a tank or should I be concerned some sort of bacteria got into the carrots?
Also, I noticed when I took my RES out of its tank, it seemed to sneeze a number of times while I was looking at it. It seemes healthy in the matter of it is still eatting, swiming, and felt fairly strong when it tried to escape my hands. Was it just doing something like cleanign its nose, or could I have a sick turtle on my hands?

As far as the tank goes, I spent about an hour an a half this morning cleaning its tank. A 20 gallon tank for a 2 inch turtle. Made sure that was no mold attached to anything else, and made sure the filter was clean. I just really wondered of anyone else had expirence with moldy carrots...
