Remember to get the 10 gallon tank 10$ at walmart, screen lid 10-15$ at pet store, heat pad 15-20$ at a pet store. Thermostat 20-25$ for a cheap one. You'll also need substrate, water bowl,hides at cool end and warm end. There is alway more cost than just the snake. Some of the stuff you can get mail order, but you have to search around in the kingsnake.com classifieds. You should be able to get a nice snake for under a 100$ at a reptile show. Depending where you live, there are plenty of shows around the country. In addition to the price of the snake, the supplies will cost 100$. It is worth saving up and doing it right. Also, remember if you mail order a snake, that will be between 35-50$ for shipping. I am not an expert, but these are the things I would get to take care of an animal properly. Hope this helps.
