Not all pet stores go out of their ways to abuse their pets. Often it's simply that they don't know the proper husbandry for keeping chameleons.
Try explaining the proper husbandry for keeping veileds. Keep in mind that most reputable breeders would reccommend keeping small veileds (less than 3 months) in an all glass enclosure. Any older than this, and they should go into ALL SCREEN enclosures.
Also, keep in mind that these pet shops are usually MANDATED by local authorities to keep bowls of water for ALL their animals, chameleons included. That bowl of water may not be ignorance on the pet shop owner's part, but simply him trying to comply with a silly local ordinance.
Like I said, talk the the shop owner and express your concerns.
.... ermmmm..... didn't I see your veileds in an all glass enclosure? ----- Victor Gomez
