Hi,
Take a pair of needle-nose tweezers and gently pull them off - they usually reside in the nostrils, arm-pits, hind legs between the toes, behind the knees, and around the cloaca. I removed 256 ticks from 10 animals many years ago! In 1965, a zoologist reported numerous deaths of V. albiuglaris and V. niloticus from tick (aponomma exornatum) infestation alone!! They were sucked to death! What a way to go...
Place the ticks into alcohol and let them drown before throwing them away - if they are from Pacific species - do not throw them away = I would like to have them, especially if they are from V. jobiensis, V. doreanus, V. salvadorii, V. carulivirens, etc...
cheers,
mbayless
