I have a really nice scar on my leg to prove it. I had a 4.5 foot nile tail whip a piece of 1/4 plate glass, it wasn't the door, it was completely framed front of the cage, door was in the back and made of wood. the thing shattered and the biggest peice fell nd cut me while I was catching the escaping lizard. Since then I only use tempered glass. Aso, I knbow it is a little late but I usually find the glass first, some times from dissasembling old aquariums, some times from salvage stores, what ever, the track is easy to find at Home Depot or Lowes and I build the cage around the glass, this is cheaper than having the glass cut to fit the cage and it really doesn't limit the size of the cage, just the size of the opening.
