Yeah, I quarantine in a separate room as well, just for safety sake. I make sure they're eating, shedding, and pooping normally, and look for mites. My new snakes get sprayed with Reptile Releif right out of the box, and into a pillowcase and placed in their new cage overnight. The next day I inspect the pillowcase with a magnifying glass, and low powered microscope. I use aspen in my snake room, but newspapers only for the quarantine time which is about 2 months for me.
