While these are much maligned by the obsessive, they are very easy to clean (as opposed to a glass 10 gallon aquarium) and have a basking area built in. I have kept juveniles for lengthy periods in one until they outgrow its area. The only caveat is that deeper water encourages more swimming and, perhaps, better shell development.
