I am the co-director of the program where your teacher got her terps from, infact, I collected and incubated the eggs myself. You should ask your teacher to look in to native bay grasses (SAVs) such as red-headed grass or eel grass, which she may be able to get from local waterways. Just let him/her know that as the terrapin grows, the plants will probably be torn up, and will make a mess of your once planted tank. So, plastic plants may be the way to go.
