Reptiles, especially a medium or large monitor species. Mom, and dad, own the house, they are responsible for you and the animals you get so they make the rules, as long as your there you must live by their rules. This is why I as well others tell kids not to get monitors, this happens and is posted baout so much on forums.
The problem being that you should have taken responsibilty before getting it and not done so without your parents full support and knowledge that your possible new pet can grow to 5-7ft plus, put you in the hospital with serious injuries with one bite, and would cost a fortune to house, feed, and care for with vet bills. I agree at your age its neat to have cool pets that offend your parents, but in a few years or so you will see things differently. The truth is that this could have been avoided by simply living by your parents rules until you are out of the house, thats how it works. I feel that maybe you should think about the animals best interests before thinking of your own interests, it relies on you for everything. If you can continue to provide for it without cutting it short or causing problems then do so, but if you cant then find someone who can.
In the past I have responded to many posts about kids wanting big monitors, they dont and cannot comprehend what the animals need, only that it would be cool to have them. This is why I have said to many dont get one, but since you have come this far maybe you should try to follow through and provide for what is needed, youll learn a valuable lesson from it and be able to pass on what you learned from this.
Good luck.
