Anybody out there keep koi and monitors? If so you can appreciate both sides of this story. I have a 6,000 gallon koi pond in the back yard, I have been building it for over a year and had just moved my fish into it. I nticed the water level was going down and figured I had a leak (actually 5 small leaks. Anyway, long story short I had to re line it so I moved all of the fish into a kiddie pool and jury rigged some aeration and filtration for a couple of days. The pump failed, and by the time I found it some of the bigger fish were just about dead, including a 13 inch Ai Goromo, with a great 2 step pattern, perfect sumi and the best configuration of any of my fish. She was gonna be a show stopper! I also just adopted a a 5 foot Black Throat that was way to skinny and has been eating like mad. in the first 3 weeks it ate 2-1pound rabits, a dozen hard boiled eggs and a couple of chicken breasts. Anyway, the big fish wasn't quite dead, but it was only a matter of time ( I tried for 45 minutes to recesitate it without luck) so I threw it to the lizard. he always eats well but he really attacked that fish, seemed to enjoy it. I guess it went to a good cause. After all, how many rescued BTs ever get a $600 sushi lunch!
