Feeding Imports that are gaining weight or holding their own have done exceptionally well for me. I keep the basking spot at 103F for Yellowtail, Unicolor and Blacktail. The animals keep themselves between 89F & 92F. I know this seems high to most people but my snakes have a cool option of 79F. Imports have a habit of hiding in a cool spot and a Yellowtail that is used to 90F temps in the wild simply crawls under the substrate and shuts off its metabolism. I keep em hot and feed a lot. I do not medicate unless a snake is loosing weight. If you medicate you run the risk of other problems due to sometimes large amounts of dead parasites that can cause secondary problems. I find imports will feed ravenously and then level off once they adjust. I will suggest a strict quarantine for any new animals coming into your collection.
