it could also be the time of year. when the weather changes to cloudy or cold, my guys don't come out as often. i don't think helga has been out at all today. and your guy may seem like he is hiding more, but he is probably just shortening his day.
if he has seen a vet and the vet did not seem concerned, then he is probably just "slowing down" for the winter
BUT it is hard on us when one dies. walter the first died in a september and shortly after i got walter segundo. it wasn't the season for him to be as active and i was so paranoid that i got that poor guy poked and prodded for nothing. it was wintertime, he was lazy. as soon as spring hit, i had a whole new wild man on my hands
