You may be suprised.

Even within a single species you'll have interaction problems. I'ts dependant on the species and the individuals. If you have teh cages for them to be separated, don't bother combining them. If you don't yet have your variety of animals, you'll need adequate caging for when someone "stops behaving".

Your primary indicator that something is wrong is that an animal is injured. Probably not the best thing to wait for if the mixing is simply for your own novelty and edification. Some animals will not recover from wounds and some may be outright killed. Vonnie got a hardwickii from me that was not working well contained with any other animal, but is otherwise quite nice.

I have Uros that can see each other from cage to cage, and even one cage against a mirror. I haven't seen a problem with plain visibility, but I have had male geyri react adversely to the mirror (macfads haven't been bothered yet).
