My girlfriend suggested that we breed my normal and her snow. I refused, but it got me thinking about breeding programs, and where normals fit into them. It seems to me that unless they're dealing with something selectively bred like Abbot's Okeetees, most breeders aren't going to bother to breed normals because morph breeding will produce lots of normals that are het for this or that.
My normal, for instance, isn't quite "clean," and in fact she's kind of "muddy" (which is OK with me -- I like her just fine). But my point is that it seems like there's no reason to breed normals, especially normals that are "muddy" the way mine is, so she must be a left over, as it were, that's het for something or other, which leads to my question: Is it safe to assume that non-Okeetee normals that come from breeders are het for something?
