What sort of substrate are you using with your digger? Also, is she scratching the bottom of the cage or the sides? A few possibilities you can try is line the cage with non stick shelf liner, which is a bit more resilient to scratching, or you can add a 12"x12" ceramic tile to the bottom of her cage. Though this won't be silent, it will help to file down her claws (oh if she really starts to wear down her claws, you will have to remove it). Another thing you could try is build a 'sandbox' with washed children's playsand. This will give her a place to dig without having sand in the entire cage. Built a box about 8" high, around two feet long and a foot wide (if your cage is big enough to accomindate it). She can dig in there though if she is a real digger she will get sand all over the place.



It could also be a change in substrate which may be causing her to dig as well. If her previous owner kept her on sand, she may be missing digging.



Check y our temps as well, if they are a bit high, she may be trying to dig to find a cooler place to rest.
