Posted by: jayf at Tue Nov 1 23:42:25 2005 [ Email Message ] [ Show All Posts by jayf ] from what i gather, the average for a male to be able to breed is 18 months. i would deffinately go by maturity (age) as the first indication of fertility. females from what i understand should be at least 3 years old. additionally you want her to have good weight so being around 6ft and at least 10lbs is the normal guidelines. with a male its not as important, but you want to make sure your female is mature and healthy enough before breeding. in addition since they tend to go off feed during gestation she should have a good weight (not saying she should be overweight).
