I'd be leery of the metal type tubs only because I've seen them before with chips in them & the chipped spots were rusty.
Do you know you can buy large Rubbermaid type tubs at hardware stores used for mixing cement? I'm not sure if you can buy one of those that would be as large as the metal tubs you're talking about but I do know that some people have used these cement mixing tubs for large species such as some softshell turtles & alligator snapping turtles.
