if he is running around that much you should try different ways to grab at him try getting your hand as low to the ground as possible so he wont think your a preditor also if he is gaping at you dont back away this will show him you are not intimidated by this behavior if it doesnt work he will stop doing it, most lizards can be stubborn the trick is for you to be more so. try to avoid chasing him its very stressfull for both him and you just get in there and scoop him up in time he will learn your not a threat
