Hey all,



I am still in the works of designing a good enclosure for my Burm. I have been thinking strongly about the ventilation portion and making sure there is a good fresh air exchange regularly for her. Here is something I came up with but wasn't quite sure how well it would work or whether I am just really overdoing this...lol. Here is the thought:



1.) Take a 3/4" PVC Pipe and run it the full length of the inside of the cage. This piece will fit in the far back-top corner of the cage with little to no gap that the snake can squeeze into.

2.) One side of the PVC will have a cap that blocks one side.

3.) The other side will be open and have a tube running from the covering of some type of small personal fan. (Like the ones that some people sit on their work desks)

4.) The PVC pipe will have evenly spaced holes drilled in the visual side to allow air current to flow properly.

5.) The back portion of the cage will have a small covered ventilation hole to allow the bad air to be forced out.

6.) The fan will be on a timer which will activate once every 1-2 hours for approx. 5-10 minutes to allow a fresh air exchange but still allow appropriate temps and humidity to remain in the cage.



Perhaps I am just overthinking this issue? I would like to provide a good quality almost naturalistic environment for the snake to help her to thrive better. I am going to take Mr. Carmichaels recommendation and provide some full spectrum lighting as well as it definitely sounds worth the extra expense if it makes her healthier and happier.



I also plan to use a Radiant Heat Panel to provide proper heating.



So any thoughts or suggestions?

P.S. Mr. Carmichael, if you read this...do the full spectrum lighting bulbs give off any high level of heat? Enough that it could throw off the Burms temperature gradients any considerable degree? I am planning to use the ones that you mentioned sold at the Bean Farm. See link for more details.
