yeah i dont think it would work on such a huge boa.
as far as feeding on f/t ...
the male i have who is huge (4yrs and an inch away from 7ft) was awlays fed live before i adopted him. he was left in with a large rat when he should have been eating small/med and got bit twice, once the teeth went in just above and below the eye.
he is by far the best feeder i have ever delt with. he will take anything any time (i only feed him f/t or pre killed). hes not shy about eating infront of anyone or anything and always eats within a few mins of putting the rat in the oppposite side of the cage.
good luck with her, rescues always seem to be the easiest to get attached to.
