There's no set policy. It's totally up to the individual or business that originally sold the animal. Some sellers may replace it with the proper sex but most likely the replacement may be younger. Others may say, "tough luck, you should have had the sex checked long ago." It totally depends on the seller. If this happened to you the first thing to do is contact them to see what they are willing to do. Of course they'll need to be able to verify the animal in question is the same one they sold. It's a fairly frequent problem because sexing neonates can be tricky to inexperienced people. Many resellers take in animals as one sex and resell as such never even checking to confirm.
