I know that when I kept fish as a kid, whenever I cleaned out their tank, I had to let the water sit for 24 hrs, and during that time, the temp would get to the right spot and the chlorine (which is harmful to fish) would evaporate out...I've always assumed this worked and if so, it should be a good practice if snakes are harmed by chlorine (i've been doing it with mine just incase...didn't know)
