I was out fighting a fire yesterday and found a Garter snake right there in the midle of the burn. He was alive and well and the bigest garter I have ever observed. A fellow fire fighter pointed it out and I gave chase. To my surprize he shot right up a downed tree. I did not know these things climbed trees. "From now on when I go into the field I will look up more" After about a half hour of chasing I finaly caught it. The estimate was about 4 feet long and almost as big around as a 24 tablet Motrin bottle. Unfortunatly I had nothing to transport it in for the day on the engine so I took it to an unburned area well away from the fire and set it free. Kinda sucks I would have liked to get pictures of it. | ||
