I guess all these answers will be subjective. I personally don't think you can pick hets by how they look at all. By definition they look "normal", not some "het look". People who do this sucessfully are probably a little psychic or lucky. But to know for sure, you will have to look at their track record over years, and hundreds of individuals, to know if they are actually statistically correct.
Personally, I am using something called "muscle testing", "muscle response testing", "MRT" or applied kinesiology, to try to determine hets. I learned this from a Chiropractor long ago. It is used by some of them to find out whatever they need from your body. Dr. George Goodheart DC brought it to us. There are quite a few healing techniques that use it now too. I have been doing it a long time, so in a couple years I will know if this works. Anyone want to test me out? Email me.
Someday I am sure there will be a DNA test for boa constrictors, to determine if they are hets. Maybe there's even one now possible! Has anyone ever checked that out? I have no idea if we know which gene goes to what trait yet for our beloved pets (mapping the boas constrictor genome). What about DNA testing for boas?
