I have an apricot pueblan that I bought a little less than a year ago. She was snappy, wiggly, and musky. I have been working with her and she is finally claming down. She no longer bites (or rather has not bitten in over 6 mts), its been weeks since she really musked me, and her “temper tantrums” has become much less enthusiastic and shorter.

I am hoping she will continue to clam down when handled.

So, for people out there with pueblans…there is hope…it may take a year or longer and handling 3 times a week, but they do become more clam. Granted, I am basing this on my one pueblan, but for a while there I thought she would never relax.



Now for the second part: I was looking in a field guide about western reptiles. And although it did have information about milksnakes, it did not mention pueblans. Does anyone know why this is? Also, it did talk about Mexican milk snakes that look very similar to apricot pueblans. I do not think the two snakes are the same…but do pueblans naturally come in normal and apricot forms, or are Mexican milks used to cross for this trait?
