might you be thinking of superworms? They have strong mandibles and can clasp to a cham's lip, face, eye if given a chance, but can also be easily removed (by you). Hornworms, and most other Lepidoptera larave, have the mouthparts to bite and eat leaves and fruit, not a cham. Just wanted to clarify
