Babies are quite fragile, so holding them should be kept to a minimum. It might be that the baby is getting stressed from being held and moved and so isn't eating. You might try leaving it alone for a week or so, and then try feeding again. I feed mine in the enclosure. Substrate ingestion is a minimal problem since they don't feed off of the floor.
