Hi again - hope you'll bear with my questions again. Since my last post (awhile back, about good boas for educational work) I've been working with my husband's Dumerils Boa with an eye to showing this boa in my educational shows. The dumeril has gotten much more relaxed with me working in his cage, but is still quite nervous and strikey out of his cage. I'm trying not to push him (as he's obviously kinda scared of the handling) and only bothering him once a week, but as he's almost 2 years old he's getting bigger.

I've also been reading all I can find on dumerils. What I'm reading says they're shy ambush snakes, and have to have their environment just so because of that. And that heat affects them adversely, and they can be aggressive due to higher temps.

Now my shows are outside in the summer, and me and the snakes live in a camper for a weekend at a time at these shows. I'm not sure if this is the right snake for this, as he'll be in a traveling (not his usual) cage for these weekends, and shown during the summer heat. My kings and ball pythons love this, but from what I'm reading I'd be putting this guy in a situation he's bound to hate and do poorly in.

I'm thinking I might want to go ahead and get myself a different constrictor for my educational work, one more suited to what I'll be asking of him. (One that likes more heat, and isn't all that nervous about cage changes?) What do you more experienced boa folks think?
