Well I was working in the snake room today (like everyday) and decided to pull out all my animals and get some weights on them. I weighed all the 05 animals first and then the 04's. After about the 4th 04 I noticed a trend. Most of my 05's were already almost as large as my 04's and some larger. The average weight of my 04's was 750 gm. Of those 4 were over 1000g and the rest were in the range of 500-700. They were all fed on a 5-7 day feeding schedule of what ever size rats I could find. My 05's average weight was 675 gm with the largest being a monster 820 gm female. The rest were in the range of 450-700. They are all fed on a 5 day feeding schedule with the proper size rat as I breed all my own food items now. It's amazing how the proper size prey item can make such a large difference. All these animals are kept at the same temps and humidity lvl's so that can not be a factor. A few of the 04's did go on a feeding strike when moved to larger tubs and 2 only feed about once every 2-3 weeks since being moved to larger tubs. And I know that larger areas cause more stress but they all have acceptable tight hides and are left alone except for feeding, cleaning, and watering. Ok enough of that my 05 male citrus ghost is trying to make a run at breeding, pushing the scale at 475 gm and pounding small rats every 5 days, if he makes 700 by feb he'll get a shot at one of my late females (she doesn't develop follicles till march every year). And one of my het pied males is hooking up with everything he can get in his tub. Good luck to everyone out there.
