I built it as a breeding cage for my BRB's, they love it and produced 136 babies this year from 2.7 adults. For the better part of the year all the tubes are closed off and snakes are individually housed. For breeding season I opened up the vertical tubes, still keeping the lateral tubes blocked. That made two vertical four cage sections. One for each male and his harem. I now have two of these so I can set up four breeding colonies.
These are old pics and now each section is set up like the upper right with a moss hide box and large water bowl. BRB's do well with higher humidity. Also the keen eye will spot a couple of ball pythons. The shoeboxes were holding some already sold babies.
If you look on top you'll see a aluminum box. Inside are dimmers so I can adjust each level independently. The whole cage is on a thermostat but the upper levels tend to get warmer. for breeding season I adjust so there are a range of temps. While individually housed, I adjust so all are the same. Also on top you can see a small pile of black block out plugs. You can see one installed in pic 2 lower right (where the ball pythons were).
