I think male colombian boas are about the most perfect large pet snake. Not to large when grown ( 6 to 7 ft.) and if raised from a juvenile and handled often are usually docile.

A boa will grow out of a 20 gallon tank at around a year to 18 months depending how it's fed.

If a docile boa is what you what I would recommend handling the snake before you purchase it. If there's some reptile shows in your area, thats a good place to see and handle them.
