More informed, experienced breeders and keepers may disagree with me, but I believe age and overall health of the female is more important than STV size in determining breeding status. I have 1.2 unrelated Veileds and would not have bred either female before 1 year old. One female is much larger, more robust, more agressive, the better eater and drinker than the other...but is also 3 months younger and had 3 inches of her tail amputated. She's still too young to breed.
Wait till your girl is at least a year old AND healthy enough for a nice healthy, handsome year-old guy.
How large do you let your females get STV befor you breed them?
Just looking for a couple of different ideas.
