To start off when you breed het for Albino to het for Albino you should get Albino's and 66% possible het Albino's. This is where my theory comes in, I think that the 66 percent only applies when you get 25% of the litter as Albino's then the remainder will be normal looking babies which 66% are hets and 33% are normals. Here comes the curve ball to this. Its suppose to work like this, In this breeding each of the parents pass on the Albino gene to 50% of the litter and when any of the babies get this gene from both parents it is an Albino and when any of the babies get this gene from one of the parents it is a het for Albino and when any of the babies does not get the gene from either parent it is a normal. So here we go, Say that you have 20 babies from this breeding (working with known hets) and you do not get Albino's then all the babies are hets this works out to be 100% het. Then in this same breeding you have babies and you get 10 Albino's in 20 babies then all the other babies are normals with no hets this works out to be 0% het. So lets breed them again and you get 2 Albino's in 20 babies to me this means that 14 of the other babies are hets and 2 are normals this works out to be 87% het. So I hope by now you get where I'm going with this, I think that the number of Albino's in the litter determines the percentage of het left in the litter. The Industry standard in this type of breeding is 66% possible hets and we use this when selling babies but if I can I would like to prove this theory let me know what the rest of you think thanks for taking the time to read my ramblings Scott Mid Atlantic Morphs
