Yes you need a permit but i agree don't say anything and you should be fine. i however have permits for mine and what i did not realize like fishing license and gun license and every other permit you must get either state or federal is that it is a free ticket for them to pay you a visit whenever they please and they can even inspect your set up whenever they please. and with a permit you have to file a yearly report kind of a huge headache. but i played it safe and got one.
