How many of you feed while breeding?

I have a pair that I put together at the end of August. There was heavy courting for about 8 weeks. I didn't see any noticable swells. I pulled out the male and fed them both. Not being sure if she was gravid, I put the male back in there. He has been on her infrequently since then. She is looking thin and really wants out of her cage.
Should I maybe fatten her up a bit and try again, or call it a wash and wait for next year?
If she is gravid, do males maybe show a little interest in a gravid female?
