Enclosure question

I see alot of pics on here of snakes in tuberware(sweater boxes)
how do you keep them in there? wont they push the lid off? maybe just a dumb question, but if you have any pics of your setups i would like to see them.
I have an 8 foot suri femaleand would like to get a male, but the wife says we have no room for another 4x3x3 enclosure.
any help would be greatly appreciated
