Repairing aquarium bottom for non-aquatic use

Hi,

I just got a 36Wx18Dx19H aquarium of which the bottom is cracked on one side. I would like to house a couple ackies in this, but am worried about the weight of a sand/dirt mix substrate. (While I'm not a big fan of glass tanks for an application like this, I intend to wrap 3 sides with brown paper and then Reflectix insulation.)

I am not concerned about the tank holding water. Any suggestions on how to address this?
