We'll normals are just that Normal, Hypo's are Hypomelanistic, wich means reduced black pigmant, that has been proven genetic. the Hypo Trait in Boas is Co-Dominant, meaning if you breed a Hypo to a Normal Roughly Half will be Hypo Half will be Normal. If you breed a Super Hypo to a Normal you will get all Hypos. The problem is most Supers Hypos can look like normal hypos, and the only way to prove its a super is to breed it. The Terms Hypo and Salmon are two different things, Salmon is a Type of Hypo that was originally bred by Rich Ihle of Salmonboa.com, Salmons are a form of Hypomelanistic boa. So when calling them Salmon you are referring to a line of Hypos. Salmons are Hypos, but not All Hypos are Salmons. There are also Orange Tail Hypos wich have more of central american blood in them, where the Hypo Salmons have more Columbian Blood in them. Hope that helps, as far as telling the difference, after looking at many pics and actual boas, you will start to easily tell a Hypo from a normal, it gets really hard to tell Hypos from Super Hypos sometimes. Good Luck, they are one of my favorites...Some examples...first pic is of a Hypo salmon, second Normal, and third is a Poss. Super Hypo Orangetail.
