not familiar with the UTH you are planning to use, but can offer some information.

I would imagine it is similar to Flex-Watt, which is what Jeff uses.
I have one Boaphile with heat instaled (inside), this is sandwiched between the bottom of the cage and another piece of plastic. Jeff has done this for years, and scores of people, without problems.
All of my other Boaphiles have flexwatt instaled underneath, and since they are stacked, it is directly on top of the cage below. This actually works as an insulator, and is perfectly fine. I would not worry about putting it under you cage and would actually recommend it. If it was attached to the back, it would have a lot of difficulty properly heating your cage. Belly heat is necessary.

Also, please use a proportional thermostat!
