Hides for many boas are not necessary, at least when useing a secure cage.
By keeping babies in dark racks, and adults in black Boaphiles I have never found the need for a hide.
With that said my Gee Line Hypo loves to curl up under the paper, which makes clean up a mess.
If you have an adult boa I would get a secure cage, like the Boaphile Plastics 421D. You should not have a problem with this.
If your boa wants to hide it will crawl under the substrate!
