Hello,
I'm just wondering why glass aquariums are not recommended and the plastic ones are more recommened? I can understand why they wouldn't be recommened if you used a screen top, but what if you used a plexiglass lid for the aquarium to keep the humidity up? I'm just wondering bc I've seen a lot of articles of people that are very against glass aquariums. One of the main reasons I'm asking if bc I recently aquired a 75 gallon aquarim (for free!!!!) and was thinking an easy way to keep the humidity up is to just pick up some plexiglass and cut it to lay on the top of the tank (off coarse it would be secured so the snake couldn't get out and also holes drilled in it for circulation and fresh air.) Anyways, all help is always appreciated.

The only downside I've seen in using glass tanks is keeping the heat and humidity correct and stable. Glass gets colder than plastic does, and I've cracked the bottom of tanks trying to get the heat right. Also, plastic cages allow you to come directly at the snake from the front, rather than a giant hand coming over the top of them. But if you can keep the heat and humidity correct and stable, I don't think it matters one bit what kind of cage you use. IMO, it's all about personal preference, people are going to tell you that plastic cages are the best in the world because that's what works for them, if you like what you have, and it works for you and the snake, go for it.

I think alot of it depends on how many snakes you want to house too.
Id never try to keep 50 snakes in aquariums....uuuuhhhhhh!!headache..!!!

Just because of the hassle of tanks. But for one or two, not a problem.

thanks guys, i was just wondering and that's kinda what I thought to that some people use plastics so they say they are the best. I have a 75 gallon glass but only plan on keeping 1 snake in there...maybe 2 (breeding pair) one day. Thanks again!
